Edward Schoeler grew up in Seattle, Washington and moved to Arizona in 1999.  He is a former prosecutor who currently practices in the areas of Labor and Employment, Victim’s Rights and Criminal Defense.  Edward is veteran of the United States Navy and Naval Reserve and a graduate of the University of Arizona where he attended both undergraduate studies and law school.  Upon his graduation in 2009, Edward spent a year serving as law clerk for the Honorable Howard Fell which provided him with the opportunity to hone his skills as a legal writer and to observe skilled trial attorneys in the courtroom.

After his judicial clerkship, Edward went to work for the Pima County Attorney’s Office where he served in the Misdemeanor Unit.  Edward handled thousands of misdemeanor cases and conducted dozens of DUI jury trials and hundreds of bench trials during that time.  Edward then went to work for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office where he served as the Vehicle Theft Task Force prosecutor and then as a Gang Bureau prosecutor handling hundreds of drug, property crime and high-profile violent felony cases and conducting dozens of felony jury trials. Edward received advanced training in forensic science, digital forensic evidence, trial advocacy, victim’s rights and complex case management. Edward then went to work for the Scottsdale City Prosecutor where he received additional advanced training in DUI science for alcohol and marijuana related cases. There, Edward successfully handled thousands of misdemeanor cases and conducted dozens more DUI jury trials.  Edward has received awards for Property Crimes Prosecutor of the Year and MADD DUI Prosecutor of the Year and numerous other commendations.

Edward is a highly skilled and award-winning trial attorney capable of handling complex case litigation at the highest levels of practice. Now, he has joined his law school classmate as a partner at the Fernandez Watts Law Firm, putting his experience to use representing employees who have been the victims of discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, whistleblower retaliation, denial of benefits, wage theft and a hostile work environment.

In addition, Edward represents victims in criminal cases, ensuring that their rights are honored and that they receive restitution for the harm they have suffered.  Edward will work with the prosecution and help victims obtain orders of protection, much needed victim’s services and will protect victims from unwanted contact and communications.

Edward also practices in Criminal Defense, where he utilizes his broad array of skills as a former prosecutor to obtain justice for his clients and to ensure that their rights are protected. Edward knows how cases are investigated by law enforcement and how prosecutors think, what matters to them and motivates them, and how they view cases for their strengths and weaknesses. Edward will diligently represent his clients from arrest to post-trial proceedings and can assist with obtaining Certificates of Second Change, setting aside convictions, and sealing of criminal records. Edward is particularly passionate about representing veterans, having served in the East Valley Regional Veteran’s Court, which recognizes veterans for their contributions to society and provides them with opportunities to obtain the services and benefits they have earned. Edward is committed to providing his clients with the best possible representation and the personal service that they deserve.
